Amsterdam, May 9, 2023 - Software provider Health Cloud Initiative (HCI) has acquired NICE Software (NICE) acquired, giving it ownership of the paraNICE and NICE Connect platforms. This further expands HCI's services for paramedical and rehabilitation care. Following the acquisition, more than 21,000 healthcare providers work with Health Cloud Initiative software services on a daily basis.
HCI's focus is on taking the maximum burden off healthcare providers by reducing administrative operations. The acquisition of NICE - which follows HCI's recent acquisitions of Incura, FysioRoadmap, Evry and CRS GGZ software - enhances its ability to do this. With the combined expertise HCI has acquired, it serves a wide range of disciplines in the (independent) mental health care and primary paramedical fields such as physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and dietetics. With the acquisition of NICE, HCI strengthens its position within paramedical care in hospitals and the rehabilitation market
Eric de Boer, initiator of Health Cloud Initiative: "The acquisition of NICE is an important step in realizing our ambition to cover an entire healthcare field - primary, secondary and third-line - through a buy-and-build strategy and to provide solutions to a broad target group. NICE's products provide an excellent opportunity to combine our own vision with the principles of open standards in healthcare."
One of the products De Boer talks about is paraNICE. This multidisciplinary registration system developed by NICE enables appropriate care (including prevention) and patient direction from the cloud. It connects healthcare providers, clients and patients in a secure environment and supports all major Hospital Information Systems (HIS). From any workstation and on any device, paramedical care providers can easily register and administer care-necessary actions in paraNICE. Numerous integrated multidisciplinary planning modules have been developed for the platform, keeping in mind the complex laws and regulations surrounding second-line specialty care.
In addition, NICE has developed the NICE Connect platform. This allows remote delivery of services to patients or patient groups, based on customized care pathways. In doing so, healthcare facilities are in continuous contact with patients, providing them with essential medical care information in a timely manner. NICE Connect has already been used since 2014 by the nationwide Amsterdam UMC chain network for premature babies, which includes parents and pediatric physical therapists. The platform is also the basis for Emogy, an environment serving clients with ASD (autism spectrum disorder). This SaaS solution is booming within the Brainport Region Eindhoven. Steps have also been taken towards Germany, in three Reha's (Rehabilitation Centers). The NICE Connect platform is deployed here in combination with a German rehabilitation SPD.
Hanneke van den Heuvel, CEO of NICE, is looking forward to being part of the Health Cloud Initiative. "The initiative allows us to continue to develop our software, seek collaboration and, in doing so, give the target audience within hospitals and rehabilitation centers, including paramedics, physicians, planners, nurses and patients, their rightful place."
