PRESS RELEASE: NICE Software for paramedical and rehabilitation care joins Health Cloud Initiative

Amsterdam, May 9, 2023 – Software supplier Health Cloud Initiative (HCI) has NICE Software (NICE) acquired, making it the owner of the platforms paraNICE and NICE Connect. With this, HCI further expands its services for paramedical care and rehabilitation care. After the acquisition, more than 21.000 healthcare providers work with software services from Health Cloud Initiative on a daily basis.

HCI's focus is on maximizing the burden on healthcare providers by reducing administrative tasks. The acquisition of NICE – which follows HCI's recent acquisitions of Incura, FysioRoadmap, Evry en CRS Mental Health software – increases the possibilities for this. With the combined expertise that HCI has acquired, it serves a wide range of disciplines in (independent) mental health care and primary paramedical fields such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and dietetics. With the acquisition of NICE, HCI strengthens its position within paramedical care in hospitals and the rehabilitation market

Eric de Boer, initiator of Health Cloud Initiative: “The acquisition of NICE is an important step in realizing our ambition to cover a complete healthcare field – primary, secondary and tertiary – by means of a buy-and-build strategy and to provide a broad target group with solutions. NICE's products offer the perfect opportunity to combine our own vision with the principles of open standards in healthcare.”

One of the products De Boer talks about is paraNICE. This multidisciplinary registration system developed by NICE enables appropriate care (including prevention) and patient management from the cloud. It connects care providers, clients and patients with each other in a secure environment and supports all important Hospital Information Systems (HIS). From any workplace and on any desired device, paramedical care providers can paraNICE register and administer essential care actions easily. Numerous integrated multidisciplinary planning modules have been developed for the platform, with a view to the complex legislation and regulations surrounding second-line specialist care.

In addition, NICE has developed the NICE Connect platform. This allows services to be provided remotely to patients or patient groups, based on tailor-made care pathways. In addition, healthcare institutions are in continuous contact with patients, so that they are provided with essential medical care information in a timely manner. NICE Connect has been used since 2014 by the national Amsterdam UMC chain network for premature babies, which includes parents and pediatric physiotherapists. The platform also forms the basis for Emogy, an environment for clients with ASD (autism spectrum disorder). This SaaS solution is rapidly gaining ground within the Brainport Region Eindhoven. Steps have also been taken towards Germany, in three Reha's (Rehabilitation Centers). The NICE Connect platform is used here in combination with a German rehabilitation EPD.

Hanneke van den Heuvel, CEO of NICE, is looking forward to being part of the Health Cloud Initiative. “The initiative enables us to further develop our software, seek collaboration and give the target group within hospitals and rehabilitation centers, including paramedics, doctors, planners, nurses and patients, the place they deserve.”
